Based on the books on your bookshelf, what conclusions would people draw about you?

stop.

pick one.
hold it. heft it. touch it. stroke it.
bite it. kill it - taste it.
feel it.
consume it.
smell it.
remember it.

"beauty...goddamnit BEAUTY IS NOT YOUR FACE. leave your breasts alone. put down the foundation. take ten deep breaths and drink some water. i can't tell you how to love yourself, but i can tell you how it'll get worse. when you fuck with yourself, when you change yourself on the outside to remedy the inside. that's backwards. it doesn't work that way. you want to try something? try eating better. try moving around more. try getting your endorphins going. in the meantime, don't obsess. distract yourself. you're worrying about something that you have no control over, something that will be gone before you even notice it."

Do you plan on celebrating St. Patrick's Day? If so, how? What memories and feelings do you associate with this holiday?

no, and forgetting to wear green. awkward in elementary and middle school, entirely unnecessary in college.

Do you think a marriage license should have a renewal or expiration date, just like a driver's license?

work's reward is more work
shape-shifted in anticipation of the soon-completed task
work changes to fit the project
if you're doing it right.

tasks become
skills
become traits
become yours.

work's reward?
you.

Subject: the obama peace prize

Bestowing such a gift on President Obama - and a gift it is- is more of a curse than a blessing. One can only win the Nobel Prize once in one's life. In the scientific community, it is seen as the crowning jewel of a groundbreaking career. It is exactly that, a Prize, something one earns after an historic achievement.

By giving this Prize as a gesture of good faith, its donors have damaged the recipient. Nothing he does will ever top this moment, at least not in the eyes of history. It's as if to say, why bother? You've already got the ultimate reward.

If one wishes to bestow honor upon the President, do so with certificates, with plaques, with accolades and speeches. But do not award him a premature prize. Allow him to earn it himself, the honest way. If you believe he can do it, then wait until he does.

Mr. President, do you feel you deserve this award?
